Monday, 25 April 2016 |
On the occasion marking the 34th anniversary of the liberation of Sinai, the State Information Service (SIS) issued a book under the title "Sinai… the Eastern Gateway to Egypt… Cultural Features… Investment opportunities". The book expounds, through documents and pictures, the different aspects of comprehensive development in Sinai and reviews efforts by the State for uprooting terrorism in Sinai. The book is made up of eight chapters tackling respectively October victory which changed all balances and helped restore Sinai to the national soil on April 25 in 1982, the story of the diplomatic and legal battle that was crowned with restoring Taba on March 19 in 1989, the geography of Sinai and its demographic features, tourist destinations in Sinai and nature reserves, the potentials of agricultural and industrial development in Sinai, the most important features of social development there, linking Sinai with the valley via the Suez Canal development area and the State's efforts for fighting terrorism in Sinai. SIS Chairman Ambassador Salah Abdel Sadek asserted that Sinai throughout history has been the first and last defense line for the eastern gateway of Egypt. Clean Egyptian blood was shed on the soil of Sinai during battles of liberation and dignity in defense of the homeland, he added. He noted that linking Sinai with the valley has been an issue of concern to decision makers throughout modern history out of the fact that clearing Sinai from terrorism and extremism will not be attained except through achieving comprehensive development there that capitalizes all its diversified and renewable resources and potentials. The 34th anniversary of the Sinai liberation comes this year while Egypt is seeking to overcome several challenges at the external and internal levels as Egypt, equipped with all its national powers, is waging a fierce war against terrorism, he said, adding that Egypt is also engaged in the battle of reconstruction and development in all parts of the homeland in a bid to provide a decent life for all Egyptians.
