Two $500 grants offered by Northern California ARCE Egyptology group

ARCE-NC is offering two $500 grants this spring for undergraduate or graduate students pursuing research, travel, study, exhibition or presentation, or other projects related to Egyptology, Egyptian history, Arabic or Coptic studies. 

Eligible applicants must attend school or have a home address in Northern California. Details are in the following announcement. The application deadline is March 1 and the awards will be made March 18.

2017-18 Marie Buttery Student Grants

Call for Applications







The Board of Directors of the American Research Center in Egypt, Northern California chapter, is offering two grants of $500 each to qualified students. The deadline for submission is March 1, 2018 with the grants to be awarded at our ­­­March 18 meeting in Berkeley.

To qualify for this grant, the applicant must be a student who is enrolled at a Northern California college or university (Monterey to the Oregon border) or who has a home address in this area. Applicants must be pursuing a degree in Egyptology, anthropology, archaeology, art, history, language, or Coptic or Arabic studies in any period. Proof of enrollment may be required before the grant is presented.

Applicants are to submit 1) a brief summary (250-500 words) describing how they will use the grant and 2) a 1-2 page CV. The grants will be awarded by the Board based on merit.

If possible, the winners will be expected to attend the March 18, 2018 ARCE meeting at the University of California, Berkeley to accept the grants in person.
