The Recent and Latest New Discoveries in Egypt

Date: Sunday, October 6, 2019 - 2:00pm - 3:00pm
Location: John A. and Cynthia Fry Gunn Theater, Legion of Honor
Presented by: Dr. Mostafa Waziri, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities in Egypt

This lecture will present the most successful and amazing recent archaeological discoveries and achievements in Egypt and also preview major on-site conservation projects, management plans, and reconstruction programs. The Supreme Council of Antiquities is excavating at sites as varied as the tomb―with well preserved colors―of Wah-ti in Saqqara as well as seven Old Kingdom tombs near the Great Pyramid of Giza, including that of Hetepet, priestess of the fertility goddess Hathor and of Bhn-wi-ka (a purification priest among his other titles). These and other discoveries are a feast for the eyes and offer insight into the life and death of ancient Egyptians.

Cost:

Free and open to the public. Suggested donation $5.00
