CAIRO - 21 July 2019: The minister of antiquities received on July 21 the memorandum submitted to him concerning insulting Seqenenre Ra's mummy, located in the Royal Mummies Hall at the Egyptian Museum.

Sabah Abdel Razek, director of the Egyptian Museum, also filed another memorandum demanding launching an investigation into the insulting incident, unloading the cameras of the museum to reach the person who insulted the mummy.

It is noteworthy that a number of people on Facebook shared a video of a visitor of the Egyptian Museum while spitting and insulting the mummy of Seqenenre Ra during a tour inside the Royal Mummies Hall.

Nevin al-Aref, media advisor to the Ministry of Antiquities, said that she edited a memorandum to be submitted to the minister of antiquities to open an investigation into the incident.

Despite the fact that the man did not personally appear during the viral video, his voice was clear and his accent refers that he has Arab origins, as he slurred insulting words to the mummy, spitting on it at least twice.

According to Aref, the memo calls for an immediate investigation since it is strictly forbidden to photograph inside the mummies hall to preserve the mummies presented.

The investigation is aimed at reaching the date of filming the deviant video.
