The Library of Alexandria will be implementing a series of cultural projects in association with a number of Iraqi universities and cultural institutions, stated the library director, Dr. Mustafa El-Feki.

In a press statement, he said that the library has kicked off the digitization of the Iraqi Academy of Sciences after obtaining the required approval.

The academy publishes the most important Arab cultural magazines highlighting the heritage and originality of Iraq along with its cultural and scientific achievements.

In the presence of Ambassador of Iraq to Cairo Dr. Habib al-Sadr, Feki is expected to announce further cultural projects, as well as the launching of the next phase of the special campaign led by the Library of Alexandria to revive the Royal Library of Ashurbanipal.

In this phase, the Egyptian side intends to introduce 2,000 books to the Library of Ashurbanipal, along with 15,000 books to a number of other international institutions.

A press conference was held Sunday at the Diplomatic Club in Cairo to announce the details of the projects.
