Saqqara Photo Session Case Referred to Attorney General

Mostafa Waziri, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities referred Monday the case of the model who took disturbing pictures in the Saqqara area to the attorney general office for investigation.

In statements to SEENews, Waziri explained that he ordered legal measures to be taken against those who caused this incident to happen. It was confirmed that the pictures circulated are real and belong to a model named Salma El-Shimi.

In his statements, Waziri said that the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities is always keen to preserve the history of the ancient Egyptian civilization. He emphasized that anyone who doesn't respect the prestige of antiquities and civilization will be punished.

He confirmed that the photos were actually taken 4 days ago in front of the Step Pyramid in the Saqqara. He pointed out that when someone submits an application to photograph inside the region, all aspects must be put into consideration, in terms of the location of the photography, and the clothes that will be worn during the photo session.

Notably, a group of photos of a model inside the Saqqara antiquities area had spread on social media. The photos which were taken inside the archaeological area angered many activists.
