This equestrian estate in Bedford, New York, is the ultimate horse-lover's paradise. Set on 58 bucolic acres in Northern Westchester County just an hour outside New York City in what is considered "Billionaire's Row," La Bestiaire is on the market for the first time in 50 years.

The compound was built in 1928 and was the home of William Kelly Simpson, a professor of Egyptology at Yale and his wife, Marilyn Ellen Milton, a granddaughter of John D. Rockefeller. And, according to a press release, it's set among good company, sharing a zip code with the estates of Martha Stewart, George Soros, and Ralph Lauren.

La Bestiaire comprises multiple outbuildings in addition to the charming main house, which includes bright and airy formal living rooms spaces and seven bedrooms and four and a half baths. A pool, pool house, and tennis court offer outdoor recreational opportunities. And, of course, the extensive equestrian facilities provide only the best, including two barns (14 stalls), outdoor riding arenas, and access to the Bedford Riding Lanes, a network of 100 miles of bridle trails.

A brick guest house and separate guest cottage each with its own driveway, plus two staff apartment adjacent to the stables round out the property, which enjoys 1,000 feet of Beaver Dam River frontage and acres of gardens and lush pastures. Located at 129-137 Katonahs Wood Road, it's offered at $8.5 million.
