The Egyptian embassy in Switzerland received a collection of 32 ancient Egyptian artefacts from Swiss authorities
Egypt’s ambassador to Switzerland, Saher Hamza, received a collection of 32 ancient Egyptian artefacts at a ceremony in Bern on Monday.
The objects had been seized by Swiss police within the framework of a bilateral agreement that prohibits the illegal import and export of cultural properties.
Ambassador Hamza received the objects during a ceremony held by the Federal Office for Culture in Bern to mark the tenth anniversary of the passage into Swiss law of a prohibition on illegal trade in cultural property.
Egyptian Minister of Antiquities Mamdouh Eldamaty told Ahram Online that the objects includes of limestone and wooden statues as well as a collection of limestone blocks taken from chapels across different Pharaonic periods.
