Saqqara archaeological site to be developed: Min. of Antiquities

CAIRO - 11 August 2019: A protocol to provide services for visitors and tourists in Saqqara Archeological Area, Giza Governorate has been signed.
The protocol of cooperation has been signed by the ministers of antiquities and Housing as well as the chairman of the Board of Directors of the New Urban Communities Authority.
The signing of the protocol took place in the presence of Atef Moftah, general supervisor of the project of the Grand Egyptian Museum and the surrounding area, and Mostafa Waziri, secretary general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities.
The minister of antiquities said that the protocol comes within the framework of fruitful and constructive cooperation between the Ministry of Antiquities and the Ministry Housing to preserve Egypt's archaeological and cultural heritage and develop services in archaeological areas.
The signing of this protocol came after the approval of the Permanent Committee of Antiquities on the study submitted to develop services in the archaeological area, as works are carried out under the supervision of the competent archaeological zone and the projects sector at the Ministry of Antiquities.
For his part, the minister of housing said that the ministry, represented by the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA), is responsible for design and implementation of the project, in addition to funding the Saqqara development project, including the comprehensive preparation of operational drawings and reviewing proposed service locations that will raise the efficiency of services in the archaeological area.
