CAIRO – 14 September 2017: The Oriental Institute of University of Chicago will host an exhibition about Ancient Egypt's Book of the Dead from October 3, 2017 to March 31, 2018.

More than 50 objects define and explore the Book of the Dead will be displayed in the exhibition.

"The show features two spectacular Books of the Dead—one 41 feet long—which are shown in their entirety for the first time in nearly a century," according to the museum's official website.

A number of the objects used in mummifying the bodies, decorating the tombs and preparing the funeral will be displayed too.

The Book of the Dead is a number of funerary religious texts kept with the dead to help and protect him/her in the journey to the other world.

It was written in the period of the third dynasty in Egypt, it is another form of painting on the walls of the tombs as Pyramids texts.

The book portrayed a number of scenes from the journey to the other world as the jury of the dead headed by the ancient Egyptian god Osiris, the myth of Isis and Osiris, and Horus.
