Negash Footwear Takes Divine Inspiration From Ancient Egypt
Footwear brand Negash wants you to walk like an Egyptian.
The label presented its new collection of shoes that feature design treatments inspired by ancient times — gold embellishments, hieroglyphics and more Egyptian iconography, including models named after pharaohs and gods.
"Negash means 'he who is next in line for the throne' and our logo is the Egyptian crown that pharaohs wore," brand founder Rocklin Hotep Negash told Footwear News at FN Platform in Las Vegas on Wednesday.
Some of the new styles include the Neith sandal, which features premium leather and suede and fringe detail around the ankle strap, retailing for $90. Inspired by the goddess of war and weaving, Negash said the design is "a nice warrior look for a female."
The Amun Ra sneaker has a high-top profile and includes a large sunray design, retailing for $199. "He was the sun god and king of gods," Negash added.
The label also produces companion apparel and accessories, available online.
