King Khufu Papyruses exhibited at Egyptian Museum for the 1st time
Egyptian Minister of Antiquities Khaled al-Anani will inaugurate Tuesday a Papyrus exhibition about ancient Egyptian pharaoh Khufu at the Egyptian Museum, Youm7 reported. The exhibition will runs from July 14 to 29.
The collection of the papyruses, found in Wadi al-Jarf on the Red Sea coast of Egypt where the oldest known official harbor had been established and date back to the Fourth Dynasty, will be shown for the first time.
Egypt's inbound tourism declines by 51.7 % in May: CAPMAS
The number of tourists visiting Egypt sharply declined by 51.7 percent in May 2016 compared with the same period last year, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), Egypt's official statistical agency.
"The number of arriving tourists from all over the world reached 431,800 tourists during May 2016 compared to 894,600 tourists during May 2015," the report said.
Egypt changes Egyptian Museum's lighting system
The Ministry of Antiquities started Monday project of replacing the old lighting system of the Egyptian Museum, locates in downtown, with a new more efficient one in an attempt to open the museum in the evening and at night, the ministry announced in a statement Tuesday.
40 mln EGP allocated to develop Aten Museum in Minya
The Ministry of Antiquities has allocated 40 million EGP to conduct inner development for the Aten Museum in Minya, Youm7 reported Tuesday. The pyramid-shaped Museum will be inaugurated in 2017.
