CAIRO – 13 July 2017: The British Embassy in Cairo said on Thursday that British and Egyptian research teams from the c and University of Alexandria succeeded to carry out a 3D visual mapping project intended to preserving Egyptian maritime archaeological sites.

"British and Egyptian research teams from the University of Nottingham and University of Alexandria succeeded in their joint project on Preserving Egyptian Maritime Archaeological Sites," the embassy said in a statement on its Facebook page.

This project has been taking place in several governorates including Alexandria, Marsa Matrooh, and Hurghada.

"One of the success stories of this research is the ability to do 3D visual mapping using software and hardware technologies."

The project was financed by the Newton-Mosharafa Fund with £50 million under a seven year science and innovation partnership between the UK and Egypt.

The Fund brings together the British and Egyptian scientific research and innovation sectors to find joint solutions to the challenges facing Egypt in economic development and social welfare.
