The Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at

Yale University is seeking to appoint one or more senior scholars

whose work falls in or complements the fields traditionally

associated with the Department, i.e., Arabic and Islamic Studies,

Archaeology of the Ancient Near East, Assyriology, Egyptology,

Graeco-Arabic Studies, and Northwest Semitic--Comparative Semitics.

The appointment(s) will begin as early as July 1, 2016.  Scholars

with a proven track record of teaching and advising, as well as

an excellent national and international scholarly profile, are

invited to apply by sending a letter of interest and curriculum

vitae, including the names of three referees, to the Acting

Chair, Christina Kraus (christina.kraus@yale.edu). The Department

is seeking candidates who will be actively engaged in integrative

and collaborative leadership to determine the vision for the

future of the Department. Review of applications will begin

October 1, 2015.

Yale University is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.

Yale values diversity among its students, staff, and faculty and

strongly welcomes applications from women, protected veterans,

persons with disabilities, and underrepresented minorities.
