ROME - After the International Egyptologists Conference underway in Florence until August 30, the Tuscan city of Cortona will on September 4 host 'Egypt Day'.
Archaeology, design and art will be the focus of the event organized by the Egyptian tourism agency in collaboration with the Atrapos cultural association during the 'Year of Egyptian Culture' in Italy and as part of the 53rd edition of Fiera Cortonantiquaria.
This year's edition centers on the fascinating world of ancient Egypt, with the participation of the most famous Egyptian archaeologist, Zahi Hawass, who will be holding a conference at Teatro Signorelli. The former Egyptian antiquities minister will be presenting for the first time his book 'Magic of Pyramids. My Adventures in Archeology'. The following day, Hawass will receive the 2015 Cortonantiquaria Award, in its 15th edition. Two exhibitions are scheduled: the Salone Mediceo of Palazzo Casali will be hosting 'Ancient Traces of Egypt in Cortona' and the ground floor halls will be holding CortonaDesign, on some of Egypt's influences on the world of design.
