LECTURE
 In person only

Saturday, 20 August, 2:00 PM (PDT)
Koret Auditorium | de Young Museum | Golden Gate Park

Dr. ZAHI HAWASS
Egyptian archaeologist, Egyptologist, and former Minister of Antiquities

Recent Discoveries in Egypt

The speaker will regale us with the discoveries of a new pyramid in Saqqara, the name of a previously unknown queen,
as well as 57 shafts of coffins and mummies. He will also discuss, in Saqqara, the excavation at Gisr el Mudir
and the uncovering of major statues dating to 4,300 year ago while searching for the missing pyramid
of the Third-Dynasty King Huni. Dr. Hawass will also touch upon recent excavations in the Valley of the Kings
and the search for Nefertiti and Ankhesenamun (King Tut's wife) through a DNA analysis to complete
the family tree of Tutankhamun. And finally, the presentation will conclude with the amazing find
of the Lost Golden City, near Luxor—considered the most important discovery of 2021.

This program is supported by Elizabeth Moyer, PhD, and Michael Powanda, PhD;

Bernard and Jane von Bothmer, in honor of the late Bernard V. Bothmer;

and Sheila Wishek.
