IMG acquires Exhibitions International
With the deal is included Exhibition International's portfolio of popular events including King Tut: Treasures of the Golden Pharaoh, Pompeii: The Exhibition and Mummies of the World.
IMG has completed the acquisition of Exhibitions International, the leading global museum exhibition producer.
With the deal is included Exhibition International's portfolio of popular events including King Tut: Treasures of the Golden Pharaoh, Pompeii: The Exhibition and Mummies of the World.
IMG and Exhibitions International recently partnered with the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities to create King Tut: Treasures of the Golden Pharaoh – a ten city international exhibition tour celebrating the 100 year anniversary of the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb. It will debut at the California Science Centre in Los Angeles on March 24th this year.
Exhibitions International produces and organises exhibitions and entertainment experiences that have attracted more than 30 million visitors across the world. The company's worldwide tours have showcased objects from the tomb of tutankhamun, relics from Cleopatra's Royal Palace, Princess Diana's royal wedding gown and the only authenticated pirate treasure in the world.
The business will now sit within IMG's events division with Arts & Entertainment. Exhibition International's founder and president, John Norman will become managing director, Exhibitions, IMG Events and his team will also join IMG.
"I had the pleasure of collaborating with John Norman when we staged Tutankhamun together in Australia in 2011," said Stephen Flint Wood, SVP and managing director, Arts & Entertainment Events, IMG.
"I quickly realised why John was regarded as the best in the business and was therefore delighted when we had the opportunity for him and the rest of his team to become part of the IMG family.
"A managing director, John will have the full support and resources of the global IMG network, and we in turn have a new opportunity to expand our world-class events offering."
Norman added: "for decades, my company has been entrusted with sharing iconic and priceless treasures from land and sea with the world, and I am proud to say we have mounted some of the most popular exhibitions of the past 20 years.
"The exhibition business is built on relationships, quality and trust – attributes that are also the foundation of IMG. My team and I look forward to being part of this dynamic company and growing the exhibitions business to new levels."
IMG's previous work with Exhibitions International includes the staging of Tutankhamun: The Golden Age of the Pharaohs in Melbourne in 2011, which still holds the attendance record of any exhibition staged in Australia.
