Egyptian mission excavates New Kingdom's tombs

Mon, Nov. 20, 2017

Cairo – 20 November 2017: Mostafa El-Waziri, secretary-general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, has stated on Sunday that the Ministry of Antiquities will start an excavation mission at El-Ghorefa area to search for the cemetery dating back to the 15th dynasty of the New Kingdom, according to the Ministry of Antiquities' press release.

The tombs of ministers, nobles and top officials of the Kingdom are located at the north of Tuna Al-Gabal archaeological site on the west bank of the Nile River, thus Waziri believes that the cemetery was transferred from the east to the west bank of the Nile.
