Sun, Jan. 19, 2020

CAIRO - 19 January 2020: Executive Director of the Archeological Models Production Unit at the Ministry of Antiquities Amro el-Teiby said the first batch of archaeological clones, which will be displayed in the duty-free shop at Cairo Airport, will be delivered within 10 days.

This is based on a cooperation protocol between the ministries of antiquities and aviation, to allocate a place inside the duty free shops in several Egyptian airports to display and sell antiquities reproductions.

Teiby further stated to the press that this is the first time that pieces of archaeological reproductions are displayed by the Ministry of Antiquities at Cairo Airport. These pieces will be displayed in a number of airports including those of Sharm El Sheikh, Luxor and Aswan, where the Ministry of Aviation hired merchants to display the archeological models.

The executive director of the Archeological Models Production Unit at the Ministry of Antiquities pointed out that the archeological models executed by the unit are of a higher quality than those designed by merchants elsewhere, because the unit's specialists possess the highest level of craftsmanship.

It is worth noting that the ministry's Archeological Models Unit is working on preparing a comprehensive development plan for the unit's work mechanisms to ensure maximum benefit from the existing technical competencies and develop the unit's production lines through mechanization. The development plan aims to keep pace with the requirements of the local and global markets in response to the increasing demand for models of Egyptian antiquities.

The unit targets establishing a promising industry according to sound scientific and technical specifications and controls that effectively contributes to the protection of intellectual property rights, aiming to achieve decent economic returns by investing in our cultural and civilizational heritage.
