New book 'Land of Rameses' juxtaposes Egyptian archeology, biblical Exodus story

Archeologist, biblical scholar L.S. Baker Jr. blends archeological data with Bible story for new epic novel

"In essence, 'Land of Rameses' takes the reader on an educational exploration," Baker says, "into the motivations and struggles of a person in leadership, cast in the early periods of the New Kingdom of ancient Egypt using a popular and much-loved story."

In his new novel, "Land of Rameses" (published by WestBow Press), author L.S. Baker Jr. weaves life in ancient Egypt into a common Bible story resulting in a fresh approach that doesn't require either to be changed or disregarded.
As an archeologist in the Middle East, Baker has a desire to help the public enjoy archeological discoveries apart from dry field reports by putting them in context within a story. "Land of Rameses" provides Baker the platform to juxtapose an unaltered Bible story with results from Egyptian archaeology that both educates and entertains readers.
Disarmed by the appearance of a man his father warned him about, Amenhotep, king of Egypt and living god, takes Egypt down a road that leads to utter and complete devastation, in which belief systems are unraveled, the economy is destroyed and his country is left defenseless.
Meanwhile, the man who does this, struggles with his own demons that haunt him and threaten to undo him at the very moment a nation is dependent upon him for salvation.
"In essence, 'Land of Rameses' takes the reader on an educational exploration," Baker says, "into the motivations and struggles of a person in leadership, cast in the early periods of the New Kingdom of ancient Egypt using a popular and much-loved story."
