Eldamaty in a visit to Germany: The One God Exhibition and the repatriation of SEVEN Archaeological Objects
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Within a three days visit to Germany, the Minister of Antiquities Dr. Eldamaty witnesses today the opening of "ONE GOD – Abrahams' Legacy on the Nile", an exhibition organized by the Ägyptisches Museum und Papyrussammlung )Egyptian Museum and Papyrus Collection), the Museum für Islamische Kunst (Museum of Islamic Art) as well as the Skulpturensammlung und Museum für Byzantische Kunst ( Sculpture Collection and Museum of Byzantine Art) of the Staatliche Museum zu Berlin (National Museum in Berlin). The Exhibition which will be presented in Berlin will display around 300 unique archaeological and religious artifacts.
The main objective of this exhibition is to showcase the peaceful coexistence of the three world religions of the Nile from the Late Antiquity to the Middle Ages. It will also be a platform for open and critical dialogue and an opportunity to build bridges between communities by promoting mutual understanding.
On the sidelines of the visit, Eldamaty will receive seven archaeological objects that were illegally transported from Egypt and displayed in an auction house in Berlin in November 2013.
The repatriated objects include a Greco Roman female head, another terracotta one representing Horus as child, in addition to five fiance amulets dating to the Late Period of the gods Nefertom, Isis and Sekhmet.
