Replica of Historic 'Karnak King List' Installed in Luxor
The original Karnak King List has been on display at the Louvre Museum in Paris since 1843.
The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has installed a replica of the Karnak King List - a historic recording of 61 ancient Egyptian kings that was created during the reign of 18th Dynasty king Thutmosis III to celebrate his royal ancestry - at its original location at the southwest corner of the Akh-Menu Hall at Karnak Temple, Luxor.
The original list has been on display at the Louvre Museum in Paris since 1843. Although it was found in deteriorated condition, with only 39 names legible on it, the list is considered archaeologically invaluable as it contains many names of First and Second Intermediate Period kings that were not mentioned on other monuments.
The replica was created over three months by Konouz Egypt Replica Treasures, the first company in the MENA region dedicated to recreating ancient Egyptian treasures and artefacts in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities since 2021.-- Sent from my Linux system.
