CAIRO – 9 October 2017: The Egyptian governorate of Sohag might not be as famous as other Egyptian tourist attraction governorates, such as Luxor and Aswan, but it defiantly deserves the same kind of attention because of the many amazing sites and temples, one of which is the Abydos Temple.

Abydos is one of the temples that still stands since the Ancient Egyptians. The temple is located in the town of Al-Balyana, south of Sohag governorate, on the west bank of the Nile and 12 kilometers from Al-Balyana's south-west.

The temple was the main temple for worshiping Osiris, the god of the afterlife, death, life, and resurrection. The temple is famous for its many tombs and graves, which date back to the kings of the First and Second Dynasty.
