A Temporary Exhibition at EMC
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Antiquities Minister Dr. Khaled El- Enany is to open the temporary exhibition " Sinai: the Origin of the Alphabet" on April 25th 2016 at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo at 6:30 pm. The exhibition comes within the framework of the celebration of Sinai Liberation Day.

The exhibition is organized in cooperation with the University of Bonn Archaeological Mission and will display all the early alphabetic inscriptions in the Egyptian Museum, Cairo that show the development of the alphabetic writing in south-western Sinai during the early second millennium BC.

The exhibition also celebrates the 100th anniversary of Sir Alan Gardiner's decipherment of the Sinai script which at first sight looks like ugly hieroglyphs.

The six months exhibition will display 40 archaeological objects representing deities connected with Sinai which appeared on the inscriptions discovered there like Hathor and Ptah.
