Upstate to preview new cancer documentary by filmmaker Ken Burns

Upstate Cancer Center (Rick Moriarty)

Syracuse, N.Y. -- The public will be able to preview parts of a new documentary about cancer by filmmaker Ken Burns at an event at the Upstate Cancer Center, 750 E. Adams St., from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. tonight.

Upstate and WCNY are sponsoring the preview of "Cancer: The Emperor of All Maladies" based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book that tells cancer's story from its earlier description in ancient Egypt to research that has brought successful treatment to millions of patients.

WCNY will air the documentary March 30, 31 and April 1 from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.

At tonight's event, Upstate cancer experts will also present information about the latest in cancer prevention and treatment.

Free parking is available across the street from the cancer center.
