The Palace of wonders in 1851, Britain launched the              Great Exhibition. More than 100,000 items were displayed in              a Crystal Palace erected in London¿s Hyde Park. Over more              than five months, nearly six million visitors viewed objects              that included rare china, locomotives, porcelain and silks,              a folding piano, a set of Cossack armour, jewels such as the              huge Koh-i-Noor diamond and a 50kg lump of Chilean gold.
