------Forwarded Message------ From: Aurelia Masson-Berghoff <AMasson-Berghoff@britishmuseum.org> Project Curator for an Egyptian Exhibition The Museum's Department of Ancient Egypt and Sudan are hiring a Project Curator: Egyptian Exhibition to support a major exhibition of Egyptian antiquities, working closely with the Lead Curator in the development and delivery of the exhibition and publication. The exhibition will open in 2016, and present around 300 objects from Late Period and Ptolemaic Egypt, including sculpture, jewellery and metalwork. The Project Curator will support the Lead Curator to select themes, finalise narrative and the selection of objects, and also support associated programming and outputs (e.g. accompanying catalogue, digital resources). Key areas of responsibility: * To work as a core member of the Project Team, assisting the Lead Curator and Project Manager as well as liaising with other key internal stakeholders including Learning and Audience, Loans, Marketing, Communications, Development, Operations, BM Company. * To manage and file project documentation and correspondence. * To compile and manage a digital database with object list and images. * To track and monitor the movement of BM objects for the exhibition between departments (such as conservation and photography). * To assist the Lead Curator with background research, picture research and picture acquisition for the exhibition and publication, and to coordinate new photography and manage photographic orders. * To assist with obtaining copyright and rights of reproduction for images to be used in the exhibition, publication, website and all related printed materials. * To liaise with all external stakeholders, partners and contributors. * To assist the Lead Curator and Interpretation Officer in the drafting and editing of text for the exhibition, publication, associated events and related printed materials (object labels, panels, audio visual materials, leaflets, website). * To work as a member of the project team and participate in project team meetings, throughout the life of the project. * To represent the Lead Curator in his/ her absence on project matters. * To assist with the planning of a related programme of events, including an exhibition conference. * To assist the Lead Curator in providing gallery tours and other related public programming activities for the exhibition as required. Person Specification: The ideal candidate will be educated to MA level (or equivalent) in Egyptology or related subject, with preference for those with knowledge of the Late and Ptolemaic Periods. The successful candidate will ideally have previous Museum and/or project experience. Strong organisational skills, particular attention to details and accuracy are also essential to the role. You will also have high proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and managing digital imagery.
